Character Name: Vida Veisi
Character Age: 19
Canon: Original Character (canon is a project called Natures Universe)
Canon Point: After being taken to the Nexus, before officially becoming the Seperator
World Description:
Long before anyone can remember, before recorded history starts, there was one world. The world was chaotic and dangerous, full of too many elements and too many creatures. The people were extremely diverse, but one trait linked them all: each and every one of them was born with a Nature. These Natures vary in strength and number. There are a few of which only one person may have at a time. There are more still, weaker ones that many share.

Three powerful possessors of singular Natures came together, known only now as the Separator, the Tetherer, and the Destroyer. They saw the world was too dangerous to continue to exist as one. The Separator separated the worlds into many, not into pieces but into new wholes; the Tetherer tied them together so they would not drift apart and remain linked; and the Destroyer destroyed what worlds proved too dangerous to continue to exist. Even with the Destroyer, the worlds remained countless. These three powerful beings came together in one world and continued their work until their deaths.

Only one world has a record of this time. And that is the Nexus, where Natures are revered and followed religiously. Those with powerful Natures, the same as those of the three powerful beings, are even revered as gods. New Tetherers, Separators, and Destroyers are found among the countless worlds and instated whenever the old ones die.

The worlds vary wildly from one another, most completely unaware of the existence of Natures at all. One world may be completely peaceful and otherwise just like ours; another may be one out of high fantasy with monsters scattering the lands. Vida's world was somewhere between the two.

Vida's world does represent almost all major biomes of our world, but is majority arid, desert and mediterranean in climate. Vida's city of origin, Tirazis, is known for its beautiful architecture and, especially, its plethora of beautiful public gardens that contrast with the large desert not too far off from the city's southern edge. This world's level of technology is analogous to the real world mid-1700s.

What makes Vida's world unique to others, however, is the existence of parasites. These parasites may have the same name as organisms, but they are not separate creatures; they are something a person is born with. They are called parasites and thought of as generally disgusting, and a person with a parasite is shunned by society as disgusting and impure. Parasites manifest as extensions of the body, using existing body parts to spiral off of and can be controlled just like any body part with some practice. Most people attempt to hide their parasites, but cutting them off only causes them to grow back larger. They are generally viewed as useless, but there is an underground movement aiming to train those with parasites to use them to their advantage. However, the vast majority hide them from society and never use them.

History:
Those born with parasites are often abandoned or even killed by their families, and Vida thought she was the exception. Her family did not treat her kindly when they saw she was born with a parasite extending from her right wrist, but they did not have the heart to simply leave the baby on the streets. She sought to earn her keep, however, and her low class family would hopefully see that she was worth keeping around as she cooked, cleaned, and kept her three older siblings in order.

However, one day when she was just 12, in a fit of self-hatred, Vida tried to rip off the thin, stringy tendrils from her wrist. They easily Separated, but did not detach; they grew, and in turn, grew a mind of their own. They became uncontrollable, knocking things off tables and wrapping themselves around things and, once, even her mother's arm. That was when her parasite became unbearable to live with, and her mother ordered her to never step foot in their house ever again. She had become worse than someone with a parasite. She had become someone with an uncontrollable parasite. She and her family were Separated.

Now without a home to return to, and no one willing to take someone with an uncontrollable parasite in, she wrapped her arm tight (with quite a lot of difficulty) and spent sleepless nights in the gardens of northern Tirazis. She met others with parasites that lived on the streets, even some her age or younger, but none had the problem of an uncontrollable parasite. She was taught how to survive on the streets by new friends, who lived in the gardens with her, occasionally running from police that sought to keep them out.

She had a few run-ins over the years with an underground society of parasitized people, who took initial interest in her. Their belief was that parasites made them more than human rather than less, and they sought to build a community of people that used parasites to their advantage, as extra appendages that were fully operational. Upon studying Vida's uncontrollable parasite, however -- once even cutting it off to let it grow back hopefully operational again -- they shunned her; there was no working with a parasite that had a mind of its own.

Abandoned by her family, abandoned by other parasitized people, Vida broke down. She willed the gardens to be her own Separate home. And it worked. All of the gardens Separately floated into the sky, free from the shackles of the earth. For days, she lived alone in one of the floating gardens, living off fruit such as figs and pomegranates from the trees within.

And then she was found by the Tetherer.

The Tetherer, who had no other name, told her that she was born with a very unique gift. Not her parasite, as she initially assumed, but the Nature of Separation. Her incredible display alerted them to her existence on this world. They told her about all the other worlds, about how her power made her akin to a god. They asked her to come to the Nexus with them to learn to Separate whole worlds.

With nothing to lose, she accepted.

She was received to great fanfare and welcome by the people of the Nexus. They had never met her and already loved her. She made sure her parasite was hidden well, so as not to break the apparent spell. She had gone from the unluckiest girl in her world to the luckiest of all of them. The Tetherer continued to show her great kindness, introducing her to the various sights of the Nexus and to further knowledge of Natures.

She would be given a room in the highest tower, between the Tetherer's and an empty room she was told was still waiting for a third god. She was to attend weekly lessons on Natures and introduced to the map of the worlds. She would learn everything she needed to know to be their god. Her teachers loved her.

And then she was Separated from that too.

Personality:
First impressions of Vida Veisi are that she is generally characterized by a perpetual foul mood. She tends to expect and look for the worst in people, with few exceptions. She puts up walls that are hard to get past, initially treating most people with grumpiness and irritability. She can be sarcastic and critical. She's a through-and-through pessimist, believing her lifelong streak of bad luck is far from over.

When she disagrees with someone, she's definitely not the type to be the better person and ignore it. She makes her disapproval known. She's the first to criticize something she believes is wrong or misguided. She's not outright cruel, but she is assertive with few exceptions. She tends to be stern, especially with people younger than her. She's the type to just give a child a disapproving look until they stop whatever nonsense they're trying to pull. She learned this habit through many years as the youngest and yet most responsible sibling, chiding her older siblings for their bad decisions and immaturity. Still, she does have a soft spot for children, and tends to be more patient with them than people who are older than her and thus should know better. She is, in fact, quite protective of children when it comes down to it, and can even be quite selfless at times when it comes to them.

In fact, when she gets attached to anyone, she is loyal through and through. She tends to place specific people on pedestals, believing they can do no wrong. When this is inevitably proven false, she goes through a crisis of faith, and has yet to healthily deal with this because this has tended to be proven false through grand gestures such as her mother kicking her out or the parasitized people shunning her from their underground community. Right now, the person on that pedestal is the Tetherer, and when she later learns that they have misgivings about the whole Natures thing she will feel utterly betrayed and try to abandon them before they get the chance to do the same to her. It is possible for her to eventually learn to healthily deal with having big disagreements with people she loves, but that's not for a long time yet.

As she grew up with a need to prove herself, she's a hard worker, fully willing to do whatever work necessary to earn her keep. She can lose herself in manual labor, multitasking and getting things done quickly. Her parasite, however, tends to mischievously get in her way when she's trying to clean or whatever else, much to her irritation. Still, she can get caught up working on something physical for hours, only growing tired when she stops to take a break and realizes how long she's been at it.

She's pretty deadpan in delivery and isn't one to smile easily. In fact, she keeps her emotions in check if she can help it, not wanting to put anything on display. Even her anger is quiet. However, the more she gets pushed, especially when it comes to her specific buttons, she can explode and completely break down. Abandonment and rejection are hot buttons for her. When she actually does get emotional, she tends to act impulsively and irresponsibly, not considering consequences. She can be darkly vindictive, even hurting people when she lashes out, not even letting herself care when she realizes what she's done.

When it gets down to it, Vida doesn't much like herself. She feels as if she is plagued by bad luck from birth, and wonders if she deserves it all somehow. She's extremely critical of others, yes, but most of all herself, a habit learned from critical parents. She hates her parasite, hates her circumstances, and hates the person she is while she's at it.

The thing she hates most is feeling vulnerable, yet she feels like vulnerability plagues her. She tries to keep herself safe, but when people actually manage to work their way past her walls she really rides on being wrong about the world this time. It happened with her family, it happened with the parasitized community, and she fears it might happen again with the Tetherer. Like there's some catch she's not aware of yet, or they'll reveal themself to be cruel. She only hopes that they're actually as different as they seem, and that her luck has really turned around, but it makes her feel powerless despite her imminent godhood.

Vida buys into the divinity of Natures wholeheartedly, feeling as if Natures are what saved her from a horrible, lonely, purposeless life. She isn't used to thinking of herself as a god, not really believing she deserves it yet, but she truly believes in and reveres the Tetherer, who completely turned her life around. She believes that everyone should embrace their Nature, and, in the future, clashes with the current Destroyer who never wants to become anything destructive. She can't empathize with the current Destroyer because Vida is so blinded by the appeal of power and adoration.

Inventory:
- small knife
- cloth wrappings (to cover her parasite, though the thing likes to wriggle out of them)
- a long, modest tunic over loose pants that gather at the ankle, provided by the Tetherer themself to fit in with Nexus fashions
Abilities:
PARASITE - Vida's parasite is four long, fleshy tendrils extending down her arm, not especially thin (due to being cut off once and growing back thicker; as well, when they Separated, their origin point moved from her wrist up her forearm, making them significantly longer). They appear to sprout off from her veins and arteries. They have a will of their own, moving around seemingly randomly and wrapping themselves around whatever they will. They're not especially strong, as she never practiced using them prior to their Separation from her brain. She may find, if she cared to try, that telling them what to do might achieve greater results in controlling them.

SEPARATION - Vida's Nature, a very powerful one. It can even Separate worlds, but that will be completely nerfed as it is potentially gamebreaking (and she hasn't learned to do that yet anyway). Through practice, she will find that she has the ability to Separate almost anything that is comprised of smaller parts. This doesn't mean she splits things in useless halves; she actually creates wholes of new things out of composite old things. For example, when she Separated the gardens of Tirazis, they orbited the country like clouds, not suffering for their Separation. She can eventually learn everything from parlor tricks such as Separating sugar from tea with just her hands to Separating physical locations of earth, for example creating a canal. Currently, her Separation powers only work when she is extremely emotional and strongly wills them to.

SUPER HOUSEWIFE POWERS - She has many years experience of being the one to cook for, clean after, and watch over a family of six (including her parents and herself, the youngest sibling). She is a hell of a cook, can keep a crowded house tidy, and knows how to calm quarreling children with that Stern Mom Gaze. The only housewife experience she lacks is taking care of an actual baby, as she had no younger siblings to look after.

Flaws:
Let's address the elephant in the room: Vida believes wholeheartedly that entire worlds may deserve to be utterly destroyed. They may be chaotic or dangerous, but people still live on them. She sees this as an end justifying means; peace and balance achieved through destruction of entire cultures of people. She believes, even, that her own world deserves to be destroyed, and wants to work with the Tetherer to find the current Destroyer to achieve this. She wouldn't exactly be able to look her mother or the parasitized community in the eye as they die or anything, but she is utterly vindictive all the same.

Vida can be intensely hypocritical at times; when she takes on the stern mom role and nitpicks random people, she's not always practicing what she preaches. When she, for example, tells someone to "be the better person", she's definitely not being the better person in her own life. She hides things like her vindictiveness with the idea of people getting the fate they deserve, but really, that's not what's driving her.

Responsible as she is when she's content, when she gets emotional she has an irresponsible streak and a tendency to ignore potential consequences to her actions. She can lash out at people and even hurt them without thinking. When she Separated the gardens, there were people still in the other ones; they were bitterly ignored.
